OPET’s incorporation started with Fikret Öztürk’s (current Chairman of the Board of Directors) retirement from teaching in 1982, and his entry into commercial life. Having incorporated Öztürkler Limited Liability Company, operating in Mersin in the fields of mineral-oil and fuel-oil, Fikret Öztürk, together with his wife, Nurten Öztürk, expanded Öztürkler Limited in a short time, and acquired franchises of many mineral-oil and fuel-oil brands. Having become the largest mineral-oil and fuel-oil distributor of the international fuel-oil distributing companies operating in Turkey in 10 years’ time, the company also became the owner and operator of 16 fuel-oil station. Having moved to İstanbul in 1992, Öztürk couple decided to incorporate a fuel-oil distributor company in the same year. Thereafter, having changed its commercial title Öztürkler Petrol to OPET, the company opened up stations in numerous cities of Turkey, starting with those in Anatolia.
